Calculate the capacity of your salt dome

How it’s done?

1. First, calculate the storage volume of your salt dome: Storage Volume = Length * Width * Wall Height

2. Next, account for the fact that your cone shaped pile of salt stores about 15% more volume above your bin blocks: Storage Volume including overage = Storage Volume * 1.15

3. Next, multiply the volume by 72 lbs of salt per cubic foot of space: Pounds of Salt = Storage Volume including overage * 72

4. Finally, convert pounds to tonnage: Salt Dome Capacity = Pounds of Salt / 2000
